It’s discouraging to not pass your driving test first time, but you know what they say – when you fall off the horse, get back on it. If you have unfortunately failed your test, you shouldn’t give up. It may just be a sign that you need a little more practice.

As motivation, we have compiled a short list of 5 people who struggled to get their licence but refused to give up and are now proud owners of a full driving licence.

One candidate in Middlesbrough had 34 attempts before they passed their driving test. After their less than successful first attempt, where they received 29 minors and 6 serious faults, it’s good to see they didn’t give up and were able to pass their test.

Janine Mars in Kent Spent 13 years, over 250 lessons and over £5000 on driving lessons. When questioned about why she continued with her driving tuition, she adamantly claimed that she would pass ‘one day’. Six driving instructors later and she did indeed reach her goal.

After taking over 30 driving test attempts, a Sutton driver finally passed on attempt number 36. They tried and tested different test centres across the city until eventually they passed.

Not one, not two, not three but four learners in Norfolk took over 20 attempts to pass their driving test.

A mum in Liverpool was determined to get her licence. For years she struggled to impress examiners and after sinking £7,000 into getting her full licence, she finally passed. She jokingly commented “I knew I could drive, I just couldn’t pass my test…”.

We hope these stories have inspired you to keep working at your driving. If you need a little extra helping hand, take advantage of our free learner driver events this May.
