According to several news outlets and weather reports, the UK is to expect a snowy spell this week. As we know, this can cause disruption all around the country and that disruption isn’t limited to driving tests. If you find yourself with a driving test booked on a snowy day, here’s the advice you need.

What happens if it snows on your driving test?

If it snows on your driving test date, then your best bet is to call the driving test centre (where you’ve booked your test).  You can find that phone number on your booking confirmation for your driving test. If you can’t get through on the phone, visit the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)’s official customer support twitter account – there should be live updates on cancellations posted on there. If you still can’t get through, then your best bet is to go to the driving test as scheduled and find out for yourself. You don’t want to risk having to pay to reschedule another driving test. If your driving test is cancelled due to severe weather conditions

If your driving test is cancelled due to snow or other severe weather conditions, the DVSA will:

  • Automatically book the next available date for your driving test.
  • Send you the details within 3 working days. It can take up to 7 days if there’s a long period of bad weather.

It’s also worth noting that you cannot reclaim any out-of-pocket expenses if your test is cancelled due to weather conditions.

Driving in extreme weather conditions such as snow, can be dangerous for any driver. Take care in conditions such as snow or ice.
