We offer three types of Learner Driver Insurance available;

  • Policies for Learners Practising in Someone Else’s Car – short term online policies
  • Policies for Learners Who Own Their Own Car – short term online policies
  • Policies for Learners Who Own Their Own Car – annual policies

Learner Driver Insurance Practising in Someone Else’s Car

You can purchase temporary comprehensive motor insurance cover for periods of 1 day to 5 months at a time for most cars with a current market value not exceeding £25000, and up to group 28. The vehicle must already be insured under a separate motor policy.

  • 1 day – 140 days cover periods
  • all policies are Comprehensive cover
  • the vehicle must not be owned by the learner driver (we have a different policy for that detailed below)
  • the vehicle must be insured under the owners annual policy whilst this ‘top-up’ policy runs

Cover is available for learner drivers who have been resident in the UK for the past 12 months, are aged between 17 and 40 and hold a valid UK provisional driving licence. Our policy is issued in the name of the learner driver so that it will not affect the no claims bonus of the car owner if an accident was to occur. To get an instant quote click here

What information do I need to buy your Insurance?

In order to arrange a policy with InsureLearnerDriver, you will need the following items:

  • The current insurance details of the car that you will be learning to drive in
  • A valid Credit or Debit card

You must not proceed with the purchase of short-term motor insurance cover if you cannot agree to any of the statements contained in the acceptance criteria. If any information given is incorrect or incomplete it may invalidate your insurance or result in claims being rejected or reduced. In the event of there being a claim, insurers will exchange information with other insurers through various databases. To get a price and arrange immediate cover simply click on the button below.

Learner Driver Insurance Practising in Your Own Car

This policy also offers Comprehensive cover, but it only covers Learners practising in cars owned and registered by them. The cover periods for the Owner Learner are from 28 days up to 5 months and this cover can be purchased online.

Again, you must have an accompanying driver with you at all times whilst practising. The current market value of the car must not exceed £25000 and be above ‘insurance car group 28′. This is the only policy required to be in place on the vehicle.
